Eileen Suarez
Miami-born and bred, Eileen received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre, with an emphasis in stage management, from Florida State University. After graduation, in 1996, she joined the New Theatre staff, first as stage manager and box office manager, then as production manager and director of operations, later going on to become New Theatre's first Managing Director in 1998. In her capacity as New Theatre's "second in command", Eileen oversees all the fiscal, managerial, administrative, and staffing aspects of New Theatre. Most significantly, Eileen shepherded the company in its challenging transition from its former location to its present one, during which New Theatre increased its seating capacity and its space by 50% and 100% respectively. She has been a member of Actors' Equity Association since 1996 and stage-managed many productions at New Theatre, including Love Letters, Camping with Henry and Tom, Three Hotels, Painting Churches, The Woman in Black, Clarence Darrow, I am a Camera and The Book of Ruth. In addition to her work at New Theatre, Eileen has served for several terms as board member and board secretary of The Theatre League of South Florida. She is an active member of the South Florida cultural community, having served many times as a grants panel member for the Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. She has also represented New Theatre at conferences given by Theatre Communications Group in Denver, Colorado, and at The American Express National Arts Marketing Program workshops in Chicago. |
