Honolulu, 1931. An U.S. Navy Lieutenant is accused, along with his mother-in-law, of the murder of a man who has allegedly raped his wife. On the brink of retirement, legendary attorney Clarence Darrow travels to Hawaii to take on the last and most challenging case of his career. SHIRLEY LAURO came to national attention with her Broadway play, OPEN ADMISSIONS, which received a Tony nomination, two Drama Desk nominations, a Theatre World Award, a Samuel French Playwriting Award, a New York Times pick for "Ten Best Plays of the Year" list, and a Dramatists Guild Award. Her play A PIECE OF MY HEART has enjoyed over seven hundred productions around the world. She is the recipient of countless awards, including The National Foundation for Jewish Culture Award.
