David G. Russell was born in Brainard, Minnesota on September 30th, 1937. He began making art, first as a marble sculptor, then in bronze and finally in painting/print making, beginning in the 70's. Art was more than personal expression and passion; it was also communication. He moved from figurative art to the abstract, emphasizing color, as way of speaking to the greater mystery of the human journey. David G. Russell, a retired priest, expresses his faith through art as well as sacrament and word. He believes beauty is the language of God and God speaks through art.
