Our Exhibiting ArtistsHEAVENS by Henry PerezI was born in Habana, Cuba in 1954, came to the US in 1969 and have been a resident of Miami, Florida since. The Miami skies have literally "opened up" to me and my camera lens in this series titled "HEAVENS". With these photos, I am trying to bring attention to the vast natural beauty that exists right above our heads. As I admired and tried to capture that beauty which surrounds and shelters us from above, I was inspired by the idea that one day I would have a show that would be titled "HEAVENS". These digital photos depict interesting cloud formations which sometimes include the presence of angel-like shapes. By showing these photos I want to remind all that we live surrounded by such beauty, which we sometimes take for granted. It is there to admire and be thankful for; and sometimes all you have to do is look up. With love and kindness, we can all make HEAVENS out of our life here on Earth, for we should all be as one. One Earth, One People, One Heaven, for we are all connected One way or another. Look up and smile, it doesn't cost a thing; it is there for all to enjoy and appreciate. I have always been interested in photography and have dabbled on it as a hobby for many years; never taking it too seriously or thinking that it would lead to anything other than for my own personal enjoyment. For years, seeing that I would be totally obsessed by taking pictures of everything and anything, many of my friends would try to encourage me to take it a step further and make it into something; but, for one reason or another, I would shrug it off and continue on my daily routine, going about my life. At one point, I even stopped taking any pictures, whatsoever; this "dry spell" lasted for many years. Through my involvement as a photographer in various online magazines, such as MiamiARTzine and Edge Miami, my interest in photography has been re-invigorated and once again, I can't put my digital camera down. As the catch phrase goes: "Never leave home without it" has become my new motto and philosophy of life. I want to especially thank all of my friends for being so supportive and encouraging, and for giving me such wonderful opportunities in life; but most of all, for being my friends. And I dedicate this show to them and all my Angels, those in Heaven as well as on Earth, (and you know who you are), for you touch my life each and every day. Thank you. click on artwork to enlarge
